About KCFC

Goals

The goal of the Kentucky Clean Fuels Coalition, established in 1993, is to improve air quality and support economic development across Kentucky by promoting the use of clean fuels and educating about evolving technologies.

A 501c3 organization, the KCFC is governed by a board of directors and officers. Membership is composed of major auto manufacturers, equipment providers, private and public fleet managers, government agencies, fuel providers and universities.

KCFC manages the U.S. Department of Energy’s Clean Cities Program and maintains tremendous national recognition. Through a national network of 94 cities, the KCFC has secured over $7 million dollars for clean fuel projects across the Commonwealth.

KCFC’s goals are crucial to the future of Kentucky because:

  • Vehicles and motorized and stationary equipment operating on gasoline and diesel continue to be major contributors to harmful ozone and particulate matter in Kentucky’s air.

  • Clean fuels reduce greenhouse gases such as carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxide (NOx) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that contribute to global warming.

  • Kentucky has an abundance of natural resources with which to produce clean fuels.

  • Using clean fuels adds value to Kentucky crops, provides additional business and industry growth, and reduces our dependence on foreign oil.
