2012 Officers
President -
Bill Jacob, UPS
As vice president of Air Group Ground Support
Equipment, Bill Jacob oversees the maintenance, engineering and
acquisition of ground support equipment, as well as environmental
compliance.
A native of Long Island, N.Y., Jacob joined UPS in 1988 as a ground
support technician in the Louisville Air District. Three months
later he was promoted into management and spent the next few years
building experience and taking on increasing responsibilities.
In 1990, Jacob was named ground support fleet manager in Louisville,
Ky. In 1992, he was named ground support equipment division manager
of UPS’s West Zone. He served as the Air Group’s ground support
engineering manager from 1993 to 2000, then relocated to Hartford,
Conn., to serve as automotive manager for UPS’s South New England
District. He took on his current role in 2004.
While serving a four-year stint in the U.S. Navy, Jacob received
technical training in electronics. He is certified by the National
Institute for Automotive Service Excellence.
A member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, Jacob serves on the
boards of the Kentucky Clean Fuels Coalition, Wesley Manor
Retirement Community and the Louisville Air Pollution Control
District. |

Vice
President - Thomas Clark,
Eaton Corporation
Thomas Clark started out his
career with Eaton 27 years ago at the ripe old age of 19.
Through those years he has worked his way from a lowly
shipping and receiving clerk to Service Coordinator to
Field Sales and Service. Today he is the Territory Manager
of the great states of Kentucky and West Virginia where he
has been happily living and working since 1995. |

Secretary -
Len Dunman,
Mercer Transportation
Len Dunman is the Safety Director of Mercer
Transportation Company in Louisville. Mercer Transportation operates
a fleet of 2,100 leased contractors and operates in all fifty states
and throughout Canada. Along with being the chief safety officer of
the company, Len is also responsible for all environmental
compliance and initiatives. He is now in his 30th year of employment
with Mercer and has held a variety of management positions within
the Mercer Family. Len travels extensively throughout the US and
occasionally in Canada.
A Louisville native, Len is a "Seneca Boy" and a
graduate of Murray State University. When not working, he enjoys
home remodeling, travelling cross-country on his Harley, and working
on old cars. He and a few other old "Seneca Boys" hang out with
their cars at the Street Rod Nationals in Louisville every August.
A resident of Oldham County, Len and his wife
Bridgette have five children and two grandchildren.

Treasurer -
Vic Peek, LG&E (retired)
Vic Peek retired from
Louisville Gas & Electric Company (2000) after 35 years of
service, where he managed the Gas Sales Department and was
responsible for the natural gas vehicle program. Vic is one
of the two remaining original members of the KCFC. He is
currently the Director of Sales & Marketing at Planning &
Construction Company Inc., a Louisville based commercial
construction corporation. Vic is also a professional
photographer and co-owner of Peek Photography along with his
wife Dianna.
He is a Louisville native where he graduated from Louisville
Male School (1965), Jefferson Community College (A.A.S.
Business-1978) and the University of Louisville (1980) with
a B.L.S. in History. A U. S. Air Force veteran (1966-1970)
where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant, as a Tactical
Air Controller.
Vic participated in many local organizations. He was a
volunteer for Junior Achievement for more than 10 years and
was on the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club Advisory Council
for 15 years where he was Chairman when he left the
organization. Vic is also very involved in his Church –
Bethlehem Baptist.
He is married to Dianna (45 years) and they have four
children (Jason, Eric, Michael and Michelle) currently 8
grandchildren. |

Jimmy Carter, Ferrellgas
Jimmy Carter is General
Manager and Operations Manager for Ferrellgas LP Propane; his
territory includes Eastern Kentucky, Southwest Virginia and Southern
West Virginia. Offices located in Pikeville, Paintsville, Hazard,
Norton, VA. And Williamson, WV. Entering his 10th year with
Ferrellgas Jimmy was chosen as General Manager of the year for 2004
and 2005. He has also served on the General Manager Council, an
opportunity for the field to have input and share directly with the
CEO, President, and Department Heads, discussions including mapping
the future, alternative resources and cost reductions, Jimmy has
served many other rolls with Ferrellgas including Region Vice
President for the Ohio Valley Region.
As a charter member of the Pike County Energy Advisory Board, he has
worked diligently with several regional fleet owners and
municipalities, to convert their vehicles to propane autogas. With
several victories in the past few years including R&L Paving in
Paintsville and Utility Management Group in Pikeville the need to
get the word out continues.
Jimmy currently serves on the Kentucky Propane Gas Association Board
of Directors representing region 3. As Co-Chair of the Marketing
Education and Research Committee (MERC) he is currently working
directly with State legislators to amend current legislation this
session that would allow state fuel tax to be refunded back to fleet
owners who choose to use alternative clean fuels.
Entering his 4th term as Pikeville City Commissioner; Jimmy
currently serves as Mayor Pro-Tem; participating on many other
committees, he is currently serving as secretary of the Jenny Wiley
Theatre building committee; the theatre which will be relocating to
Pikeville, will begin construction in early 2012 with a new 350 seat
indoor venue.

John Lyons, Kentucky Division of Air Quality
Mr. Lyons has
served in various capacities for the Department for Environmental
Protection during his 22 year public service career. In January
2002, he was chosen to serve as the Director for the Kentucky
Division for Air Quality, now in his 9th year in that role. Over the
years, John has made numerous presentations on a variety of air
quality and environmental issues to various groups throughout the
state and nation.
During his tenure, Mr. Lyons has been instrumental in reorganization
efforts for both the Department for Environmental Protection and the
Division for Air Quality, implementing business process efficiencies
that have improved the health of the citizens of the Commonwealth
and Kentucky’s environment. Further, his involvement in national air
quality issues has helped shape the regulatory landscape for
protection of air quality.
Mr. Lyons also serves on the Board of Directors for the Southeastern
States Air Manager’s Association, the National Association of Clean
Air Agencies and the Kentucky Clean Fuels Coalition.

Laura Knoth, Kentucky Corn Growers
Laura M. Knoth serves as the executive director for the Kentucky
Corn Growers and Kentucky Small Grain Growers Associations, where
she works with grower leaders to provide promotion, marketing,
education, grassroots and membership programs for more than 2,000
grain farmers across the Commonwealth.
Prior to accepting her current position, Knoth served the Kentucky
Farm Bureau for 18 years, most recently as director of the Public
Affairs Division. In this position, she supervised Kentucky Farm
Bureau's public affairs activities, including state and national
lobbying, policy development programs, political education, natural
resources, local affairs and commodity activities.
She also served as Kentucky Farm Bureau's director of natural and
environmental resources and as an area program director, working
with county Farm Bureaus in 12 Western Kentucky counties to
coordinate member service and policy implementation programs.
Ms. Knoth is a graduate of the University of Kentucky, holding a
Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture with an emphasis in
natural resources and environmental economics. She worked as an
environmental consultant with private industry before joining
Kentucky Farm Bureau.

Mike Mulheirn, Jefferson County Public Schools
Michael A. Mulheirn, FCIOB, REFP, is Executive Director,
Facilities/Transportation, for Jefferson County Public Schools,
Louisville, Kentucky. Michael oversees 155 schools (over 15 million
square feet), approximately 100,000 students, and a fleet of 962
school buses that transport over 69,000 students per day. Michael
graduated first in his class from the College of Building and Civil
Engineering in Liverpool, England.
For 14 years, Michael was project manager and construction
superintendent for major construction companies in Europe, Africa
and the United States. In 1987, Michael joined Durham Public Schools
in North Carolina to head their construction program. During the
next 13 years, his role expanded to Assistant Superintendent for
Operations. In January 2000, Michael joined Jefferson County Public
Schools. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Buildings
(FCIOB), a Recognized Educational Facility Planner (REFP), and was
named Council of Educational Facility Planners International (CEFPI)
Planner of the Year for 2000. Michael was awarded the 2011 Joan
Riehm Memorial Award for Environmental Leadership, Honoring
Sustainable Environmental Leadership in Public Service.
Michael recently served as president of both CEFPI Southeast and the
Kentucky Educational Facility Planners (KEFP). He is also a former
president of the North Carolina Educational Facility Planners
(NCEFP).
Michael is past chairman of the board for the Kentuckiana Minority
Business Council (KMBC) and recently served as a board member for
the Kentuckiana Construction Users Council (KCUC). He currently
serves on the Board of Directors for the Kentucky Clean Fuels
Coalition (KCFC) and is a member of the Louisville Water Company
Advisory Board. Michael represents Jefferson County Public Schools
on the Partnership for a Green City Steering Committee. He also
chairs both the Green Fleets Team and the Green Buildings Team for
the Partnership.
Michael and his wife, Nancy, have been reading tutors for elementary
students for many years. |

Steve Workman, University of Kentucky
Steve Workman is the Assistant Dean for Research and Associate
Director of the Kentucky Agricultural Experiment Station. He is a
professor in Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering. He holds a BS
and MS in Agricultural Engineering from The Ohio State University
and a PhD in Biological and Agricultural Engineering from North
Carolina State University. He worked from 1990 to 1995 with the
USDA-ARS Soil Drainage Research Unit in Columbus Ohio. At the
University of Kentucky, he has taught courses in groundwater
hydrology, irrigation and drainage engineering, land and water
resources engineering, and numerical methods and served as faculty
advisor for the Bioenvironmental Engineering option in the
department. He has won the departmental teaching award 5 times in
addition to the outstanding teaching award for the College of
Engineering (Lutes Award), the College of Agriculture (Master
Teacher Award) in addition to the Loys Mather Career Teaching Award.
Dr. Workman is co-author of the textbook "Soil and Water
Conservation Engineering", 5th ed. and 6th ed., which is widely used
in the US for teaching hydrology to undergraduate and graduate
students. Primary research interests are in porous media flow and
stream/aquifer interactions where he has published more than 100
journal articles, proceedings papers, and book chapters.

Tim Hughes, Kentucky Department of Energy Development and
Independence
Tim Hughes is the Director for the Division of Biofuels for the
Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet. Previously he served as the
Senior Policy Analyst of the Governor’s Office of Agricultural
Policy where he also held various other roles since 2004. Tim and
his wife Lori own TLC Farms in Simpson County. Mr. Hughes has been
an active agricultural leader in both Logan and Simpson Counties. He
is a graduate of Western Kentucky University where he also served as
their farm manager in 2002 and 2003. Tim has served as the state
chairman of two young farmer groups and has played leadership roles
in various national farm organizations. Tim and Lori now reside in
Frankfort, KY where they are active members of Buck Run Baptist
Church. |

Dickie Turner, Murray State University
Dickie is
the Assistant Director of Transportation for Murray State
University in Murray, KY. In 2003 Dickie started representing
Murray State at KCFC functions. Since 2003 Dickie has served
terms as Secretary and as a Board member.
Prior to Murray State, Dickie served in the Kentucky Army
National for 29 years in various management positions before
retiring in 2001. Additionally Dickie worked as a Civil Service
employee for the Kentucky Army National Guard 27 ½ years before
retiring also in 2001. Dickie holds a BS and MS from Oakland
City University, Oakland City, Indiana.

Greg Davis, Forever Resorts/Mammoth Cave Hotel
In the summer of
1968,Greg started seasonally working for National Park Concessions,
Inc. at the Mammoth Cave operation, working in the Snowball Dining
Room. Each summer he worked in different operations, Big Bend
National Park, Isle Royale National Park, Death Valley National Park
and the Blue Ridge Parkway.
In September 1980, he became Manager of the Oasis Motor Inn and
Restaurant, in Cave City until November 1984, when he became
Executive Director of the Cave City Convention Center.
In May 1990 he took the position of Executive Director, for the
Bardstown - Nelson County Tourist Convention Commission. In August
1993 he returned to Mammoth Cave.

Bob Hook, Bob Hook Chevrolet
Bob Hook is the
president of Bob Hook Chevrolet in Louisville, where he was born and
raised. He graduated from Wake Forest University in 1972 with a B.A.
in Economics. The auto dealership was founded in 1973. Bob also
serves on the boards of Greater Louisville YMCA, Baptist Hospital
East and Georgetown College. He is a member of Broadway Baptist
Church. He has three children and three grandchildren.

David Huff, LG&E/KU
David Huff has over 30 years of utility experience and background
from electric generation, distribution and retail services. As
Director of Customer Energy Efficiency and Smart Grid Strategy, he
is responsible for approximately $25 million of energy efficiency
programs annually and for coordination of Smart Grid and Smart Meter
strategy across LG&E and KU service territories.
David received his MBA from Indiana University, his BSME from Rose-Hulman
Institute of Technology, and is a Registered Professional Engineer
in Kentucky.
He serves as an Executive Board Member for the Center of Green
Marketing Sustainability at University of Kentucky, Board
Member/Volunteer for Boy Scouts of America, Board Member for
Kentucky Clean Fuels Coalition, and is a former board member of
Project WARM. David is an Eagle Scout.

Dr. Jagannadh Satyavolu,
UofL Conn Center for Renewable Energy Research
Jagannadh Satyavolu, PhD, is the Theme Leader for Biomass and
Biofuels at the University of Louisville Conn Center and is focused on developing renewable
feed streams for green fuel processing technology.
Dr. Satyavolu has over 20 years of experience in commercial business
leadership roles, product and process technology development,
industrial application research, and academia. He has led projects
in the development of non-wood fiber applications for paper and
other industrial markets, wet-end additives, de-inking processes,
membrane separations, and other work involving chemical, food,
biotechnology, and value generation from co-product streams. Prior
to joining Conn Center, he worked at Cargill, Georgia Institute of
Technology, and Battelle Labs.
Dr. Satyavolu received his PhD (1989) and MS (1984) in Chemical
Engineering from The Ohio State University and a BTech (1982) in
Chemical Engineering from Andhra University in India. He had several
publications and holds 13 US and European patents on food and paper
processes. He joined the Conn Center in 2011.
His focus at the Conn Center is to develop and promote business and
commercial relationships among biomass producers and biofuel
producers in such a way that the cost of biofuel production is
comparable to costs from synthetic sources. To this extent, he
identifies the most suitable biomasses and develops processes to
produce C5-rich hydrolyzate to manufacture biochemicals and
biochemical intermediates.

Marie Burnett, Waste Management of Kentucky
Marie Burnett
graduated with a BS in Environmental Science from Eastern Kentucky
University. Marie has been working in her field for 17 years,
starting her career out of college at the Health Department’s
Environmental Health and Protection. From an Environmental Health
Specialist to an Environmental Supervisor at the Jefferson County
Waste Management District. Marie was employed by Louisville
Jefferson County for 13 years until she left 2008 to assume the role
of Landfill District Manager Waste Management of Kentucky.
Marie is a long standing member on the
Jefferson County Solid Waste Advisory Committee, she has been
involved in Merger 2.0 for Mayor Fischer, is a Board Member of the
Saratoga Woods Board of Directors as well as the Kentucky Clean
Fuels Coalition. Marie is also a certified Kentucky Solid Waste
Landfill Manager.
Marie was born and raised in Louisville KY and
is very active in her community which includes Operation Brightside,
Floyds Fork Creek Sweep, Ohio River Sweep just to name a few.
When not working or volunteering Marie is with
her little girl the Apple of her eye.

Past President Tracey Thurman, Lexington Fayette Urban County
Government
Tracey Thurman
is an Administrative Officer within the Office of the Commissioner,
Department of General Services for the Lexington-Fayette Urban
County Government. She was elected as President of the KCFC in 2010.
Prior to joining LFUCG, Tracey served as Deputy
Commissioner with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and as
Executive Director of the Kentucky Propane Education and Research
Council. Tracey was elected to the Frankfort City Commission serving
two terms as mayor pro tem. Tracey is a cum laude graduate of
Belmont University, Nashville, Tennessee, with a B.A. in English and
History.
